Scoffers (2 Peter 3:3-4)
There shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, …all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. —2 Peter 3:3-4
There are two basic teachings concerning the geology of the earth: uniformitarian geology (basis of evolution) versus catastrophic geology (Bible believer).
Uniformitarians (“scoffers”) believe the earth has been the same since the beginning (cf. 2 Pet. 3:4—“all things continue from the beginning of the creation…”) and things change gradually or are formed slowly. Natural forces have been slowly forming everything the way we see them today. [This is how a uniformitarian vainly explains the formation of the Grand Canyon.]
A catastrophic geologist believes the Lord made things suddenly and a catastrophic event changed everything suddenly (e.g. creation; the flood; the day of the Lord—2 Pet. 3:10-13).
True science (1 Timothy 6:20) proves catastrophic geology.
