SPIRITUAL “LASIK”

SPIRITUAL “LASIK”

…I see men as trees, walking. After that put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. —Mark 8:24-25

LASIK is a very popular procedure that improves the vision for many people. I know some people who used to need glasses and have had LASIK, and now see clearly without glasses.

Jesus did a similar procedure for the blind man of our text. Jesus simply spit in his blinded eyes and laid His hands upon him. Jesus asked the man if he could see now, and the man said, “I see men as trees, walking.” Jesus touched him a second time and his vision “was restored, and saw every man clearly.”

I believe most Christians (myself included) need this same kind of spiritual “Lasik” treatment done for our vision. Most of us are like that man who only saw men “as trees, walking”—Merely objects moving around without a soul. We fail to see men as they really are—Persons with eternal souls whom Jesus loves and shed His blood to redeem so they might not go to hell.
We need what that blind man needed… A SECOND TOUCH, so we can see “every man CLEARLY” as God sees them. May we pray…

Let me see this world, dear Lord,
As though I were looking through Your eyes;
A world of men who don’t want You Lord,
But a world for which You died.
Let Me kneel with You in the garden,
Blur my eyes with tears of agony.
For If once I could see this world the way You see,
I just know I’d serve You more faithfully.
