Stewardship Of The Bible
He that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. —Jeremiah 23:28
If you possess a copy of the Bible, you have an awesome responsibility. Owning a Bible is a sacred trust (1 Thess. 2:4; 1 Tim. 1:11). Jesus taught “unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” (Luke 12:48). There is no greater material possession that compares with the value of a King James Bible!
Here are five duties every Christian has regarding the Word of God:
- READ IT THROUGH. Are you systematically reading your Bible from cover-to-cover on a regular basis? By reading four chapters a day you can read through the Bible in one year. Takes about 20 minutes a day.
- PRAY IT IN. Memorize the Bible and use the Scriptures in our daily prayer life.
- WRITE IT DOWN. It is wise to mark in your Bible things God shows you as you read and study.
- WORK IT OUT. Apply and live what you learn. Be a doer of the word and not a hearer only.
- PASS IT ON. Tell others what God has said in His Word.
What are you doing with your Bible? Is it picked up and studied every day? Are you sharing it with others? Or is sitting on a shelf gathering dust. Remember, a dusty Bible leads to a dirty life!
The Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible (and from heaven)!

In this world of lies and half truths, the Bible is the only truth to which we can lay claim. John 17:17, “Sancify them through thy truth, THY WORD IS TRUTH.” These words are said by Jesus Christ while praying to God the Father. God’s Word, the Bible, is truth!
