THE COVENANT OF MARRIAGE
The LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. — Malachi 2:14
The recent scandals involving candidates in government is a disgrace. However, what disturbs me most is the apathetic responses to surveys where people are asked, “Does it make any difference to you whether a candidate is faithful to his wife or not?” Or, “Would you vote for a man that was unfaithful to his wife?” And many people answer, “No, It doesn’t matter.” This kind of response shows how low standards of integrity have sunk in America.
Personally, I will not vote for a man who has broken his vows to his wife. If he will not keep his promises to his wife, why should I believe he would keep his promises to those who vote for him? Put it down big, plain, and straight: People who treat their vows to their spouse lightly will treat other people lightly.
Even more importantly, it makes a difference to God if a spouse is unfaithful! The Bible says, “Whoremongers and adulterers GOD WILL JUDGE” (Heb. 13:4).
