“The Lord Stood With Me”

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me… Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me. —2 Timothy 4:16, 17

Men may forsake you, but God is faithful to stand with you. Let us put no confidence in the flesh — in ourselves — or in others. Christ’s disciples forsook Him at His darkest hour. Now in Paul’s final days he is going through the same thing.

We can easily get depressed when our friends fail us, even the best of them. We had better resolve early to expect little of men and much of God. He is faithful and will never forsake you. He is always there to stand with you and strengthen you! Praise God.

Raise your sights above men. Then, even if your father and mother forsake you, the Lord will take you up (Psalm 27:10).
