The Most Important Thing
“…the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” — Acts 2:41
In December, 1903, after many attempts, the Wright Brothers were successful in getting their “flying machine” off the ground. Thrilled, they telegraphed this message to their sister Katherine: “We have actually flown 120 feet. Will be home for Christmas.” Katherine hurried to the editor of the local newspaper and showed him the telegram. He glanced at it and said, “How nice. The boys will be home for Christmas.” He totally missed the most important part— Man had flown!
So many people get side-tracked from the most important thing about the Day of Pentecost. Some get excited about the mighty rushing wind and the speaking in tongues. Others emphasize Pentecost as being the birthday of the church. They totally miss the most important thing about that day—3000 souls getting saved and baptized!
As you enter 2011, don’t lose sight of the fact that the most important thing you can do in this life is lead a soul to Jesus! Make 2011 a year of soul winning!
