The Oral Reading of God’s Word
The Oral Reading of God’s Word
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites… and he shall read therein all the days of his life. —Deuteronomy 14:18-19
God instructed the Kings that would rule over Israel to make his own personal copy of God’s Word and read from it all the days of his life and obey it. What a difference it would make if all our Presidents were required to do the same thing.
It is a given that believers should make daily Bible reading a habit. One way to improve your comprehension of what you read in God’s Word is to read it aloud in your devotions. As the Psalmist said, “With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth” (Ps. 119:13). “Baruch read the book in the ears of the people” (Jer. 36:18).
Something happens when we read the Scriptures aloud. It triples its influence on our mind. It’s words first enter through the eye-gate. Then it is articulated by our tongue and reenters our mind through the ear-gate! We see it.. speak it, and hear it all at once.
Try practicing the oral reading of the Word of God and see the difference it makes.

Preacher,
I am in agreement with this policy. I also believe that reading the word aloud blesses our homes. I think that if there is any unrest in our homes that if we would just stop and read a chapter in the Psalms or Proverbs or one of our favorite books it would help to restore peace.
I really like the devotion to read alloud the Bible each day!
Amen. There are also times when I just don’t feel like I can pray and I read aloud one of the Psalms as a prayer. It is amazing what a blessing it brings.
