The Revelation of the King

The Revelation of the King

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is 2 Kings 11.  Athaliah murders her grandsons who were heirs to David’s throne so she could sit on the throne herself.  But unbeknownst to her, a one-year-old grandson named Joash was rescued and hidden in the house of the Lord for six years (2 Kings 11:3). He was the true King safely secluded, while Athaliah, “that wicked woman” (2 Chron. 24:7), reigned in full sight of everyone.

Two rulers were present—An illegitimate usurper of the throne is ruling publicly (Athaliah). She doesn’t have a clue the legitimate king (Joash), is hidden behind-the-scenes, awaiting his public coronation when he turns seven years old (2 Kings 11:12-21).

God has given us a prophetic picture in this story of what is going on in the world today:  Wicked political rulers appear to be in control, but behind-the-scenes the true legitimate “King” is waiting for His time to be revealed as King of Kings and Lord of lords.

What you see is not always a true picture of what is actually the case.  Satan may appear to be in control today, but God has him on a short leash and one day will cut him off altogether.

No matter what happens in the governments of the world, and how bad it looks, the thing that gives me peace is knowing there is coming a day with the true King will come and take His rightful place on the throne (Rev. 11:15).

“Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus.” (Rev. 22:20).

  1. Thank you Pastor Al for the onsite. The Lord has given you this word. Yes, the world is in a mess because of the political leaders who think that they are the ruler of the world. But our great King of Kings is coming soon to rule in peace. Thank you for this encouragement from the word of God.
