The Simplicity In Christ
I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. — 2 Corinthians 11:3
Two men were sitting together in an airplane. The one asked, “What do you do for a living?” The other answered, “I’m a preacher.” Then the first man said, “Well, preacher, I like to keep my religion simple. Simple like: ‘Jesus loves me this I know; For the Bible tells me so.’”
Then the preacher asked the first man, “What do you do?” The man answered, “I’m an astronomer.” The preacher said, “Well, I like to keep my astronomy simple also. Simple like: ‘Twinkle, twinkle, little star…’”
Actually, there is nothing simple about astronomy, and religion can be complicated at times. But, in a real sense, the astronomer was right—There is a simplicity in Christ. It is the simple fact that Jesus loves you! In essence, Satan’s temptation to Eve was rooted in a lie— “Eve, God doesn’t love you. If He loved you, He’d let you eat the fruit of this tree.”
Never forget, no matter what happens in your life, never let Satan cause you to doubt God’s unconditional love for you.
