Tips On Being Heard
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. —Ephesian 4:29
There is a saying, “When E.F. Hutton speaks, people listen.” Do people are listening when you speak, or do they tune you out?
What keeps your voice from being heard by those around you? Here are a three tips that will improve your communication with others:
- Are you living a life of integrity and compassion?
- Do you consider the perspectives of others and how they might hear your words before you speak?
- Are you speaking in such a way that your words build up those who hear them?
Sharing your thoughts so that you are able to influence others is an art, not a science. If you want people to listen to you, you must earn their respect, then they might “lend you their ears.”
“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt” (Col. 4:6).
