Too Much Seasoning?

Too Much Seasoning?

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt”  (Colosssians 4:6)

A person cannot get too much Bible preaching.  Paul wrote, Despise not prophesyings” (1 Thessalonians 5:20).  I listen to preaching at church, on my iPhone, and my computer.

I like all kinds of preaching, as long as it is out of the Bible.  I like long preaching (Acts 20:7-12)… I like short preaching… I like dry preaching… I like wet preaching (except while I’m sitting on the front pew)… I like hot preaching… I like cool preaching.  I like loud preaching… I like quiet preaching.  I like salty preaching… etc.

A dear lady approached me after one of our church services.   She smiled and commented, “Pastor, your sermon was so highly seasoned, it lost it’s most gracious favor!”  Never heard that before.  I guess my  preaching was too salty for her.

I took her comment as a compliment.

Preach on (and pass the salt!)!
