Two Detroit Originals

Two Detroit Originals

While shopping at a WalMart today, I spotted something I haven’t seen in many years—Better Made Potato Chips!  I paused at their store display and wondered, “Do they still make these? I haven’t had one of these chips in over than 30 years.”  These are the best chips I’ve ever tasted (of course, I’ve never tasted a chip I didn’t like!). I put a bag in our shopping cart and anticipated getting back to our Airstream to munch on a few! I was not disappointed! Yum!

The back of the bag reads: “Better Made was founded in Detroit as Cross & Peters Company, Inc. on August 1, 1930.   In 1934, there were over twenty potato chip companies in Detroit. Today only Better Made remains. We are proud to have survived and prospered through the years.”  How many potato chip companies can say that!? These chips have stood the test of time!

Another Michigan original that Barb especially likes is Vernors Ginger Ale. (Much better than Canada Dry.)  We have stocked up on this tangy soft drink.  If you ever find Vernors or Better Made Chips, treat yourself. You’ll be glad you did!
