WHAT NOW?

WHAT NOW?

What Now?

“The powers that be are ordained of God” (Rom. 13:1).

I am not surprised by the results of this week’s presidential election. America has elected as President a specimen of itself. So, what now?

First, we must understand it is ultimately God who puts men and women in governmental positions (Dan. 4:24-25; Rom. 13:1). He sets up “kings” and puts down “kings” (Dan. 2:21).  God said through the prophet Jeremiah, “I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, MY SERVANT” (Jer. 27:6). Likewise, our President is “God’s servant,” therefore he should be honored as we are commanded in 1 Peter 2:13-17.

Second, we must not be overly concerned about who sits in the White House, Congress, or the Governor’s mansion because we are only strangers passing through this world (1 Pet. 2:11; Heb. 11:13).  The Christian’s citizenship is heaven (Phil 3:20).  So, Christian, set your affections on things above and not on the earth (Col. 3:1-2)!

Thirdly, it is the duty of every Christian to pray for our President and those in positions of authority (1 Tim. 2:1-3).  Instead of complaining or whining that your candidate lost, pray for the man who won. He needs your prayers more than ever.

One final word of caution from God’s Word— “Curse not the king, no not in thy thought” (Ecclesiastes 10:20).

  1. Amen, How true. Probably not the most popular post-election post, but 100% sound BIBLE. Thank you for being a voice of reason and a voice of biblical wisdom.
