When There Will Be No Misunderstandings
When There Will Be No Misunderstandings
Now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. —1 Corinthians 13:12
Today, our knowledge is only partial. Paul wrote, “We know in part” (1 Cor. 13:9). We really don’t “see” the full picture of what is going on or who who people really are. We only see things on the surface (1 Cor. 8:2). The only exception is when God reveals something to us that could not otherwise be seen (2 Kings 6:14-17).
However, in heaven our knowledge will be complete and we’ll have perfect understanding. All our questions concerning this life will be answered and we will know each other as well as we know ourselves. There will no need for introductions in heaven! We will recognize everyone on sight!
A woman in Tony Evans’ church asked him, “Pastor, will we know each other in heaven?” He smiled and answered, “I would say that we won’t really know each other until we get to heaven!” Amen!
No matter how well you think you know someone, you really don’t know the half of it. On this earthly sphere, we only have partial knowledge of each other. That is why people are often misunderstood and problems start. We only see the tip of the iceberg of who a person really is . The major part of that person’s personality is hidden underneath.
In heaven, all the masks will come off. We’ll see each other face-to-face, with no secrets between us. As Paul says, “Then shall I know even as also I am known.” Our communication will be perfect and therefore there will never be any misunderstandings.
