Where God Guides, He Provides

Get thee hence…and hide thyself by the brook Cherith…and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. — 1 Kings 17:3, 4

At Cherith Elijah learned the lesson of God’s provision. But Cherith was the place of God’s provision because it was the place of God’s purpose. Elijah was in the place where God told him to be. The ravens were commanded to feed him “there,” not somewhere else, not just anywhere, but “there.” God is responsible for our upkeep when we follow His directions. He will not pick up the “tab” when we choose from our own menu.

Sometimes God asks us to do some strange stuff. We usually feed God’s birds. But here the birds are feeding God’s prophet. Our’s is not to reason why, but simply follow God’s leading. Where God guides, He provides.
