“Who Art Thou… What Wilt Thou?”
Who art thou, Lord? … Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? — Acts 9:5, 6
What we do often depends on who has asked us to do it.
Saul asked, “Who art thou, Lord?” That is the starting point. Once the “who” is recognized as the Lord Jesus Christ, the obvious follow-up question should be “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” “Who, Lord? … What, Lord?” Jesus told Saul what to do, and Saul immediately went and did it.
Jesus is the LORD and therefore He should be obeyed as the LORD. Jesus said, “Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46). The Lord told Peter to rise and eat, but Peter answered, “Not so, Lord” (Acts 10:14). When the Lord speaks, our response should be “Yes, Lord.”
If you know it is the Lord who is speaking to you, how can you ask Him anything less than: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”
