Would You Become A Dog?

Would You Become A Dog?

“God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh.” –Romans 8:3

Dogs are man’s best friends, so let’s assume the dogs in your town have developed a problem that has them in deep distress and only you can provide the help they need to survive. Without it they would perish. If it would help save the dogs, would you be willing to become a dog? Would you put down your human nature, family, home, joys, and all else and choose instead to walk on all fours, lap up water with your tongue, scratch fleas, smell other dogs hind ends, and wag your tail.

When Christ became a man through the incarnation, He voluntarily laid aside His unhampered, unhindered communion with the Father and left the glory of heaven to be made “in the likeness of sinful flesh,” and die for the likes of us.

Christmas is about the INCARNATION. God becoming human flesh… Immanuel, God with us. I don’t know if I love any dog so much I’d be willing to die for it, much less become a dog to save it! Paul wrote, “…in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:6-8).

Hallelujah! What a Savior, who “though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2 Cor. 8:9).
