A Little Past The Top of the Hill
2 Samuel 16:1-2
In 2 Samuel 15, we’ve looked at:
(1) A son’s rebellion…
- He criticized his daddy (15:3). Did not honor his daddy.
- He conspired against his daddy (15:4-6, 12).
- He conned his daddy (15:7-12).
- He confiscated was belonged to his daddy
(2) A father’s retreat… (15:14)
(3) and a tearful remorse (15:30).
Now we see David’s relief at the top of the hill (read text).
We all have hills to climb in the Christian life. I’m glad there’s HELP “a little past the top of the hill,” if you can only make it to that point!
Are you climbing some “hill” today? A financial hill of debt… a hill of marital conflict… a hill of a medical infirmity… a hill of emotional stress?
I don’t know where your hill may peak. I can’t tell you where the crest of the hill of your situation is.
But I do know this—God knows your limitations. He knows when you’ve reached the peak of your trial and you can’t go any further.
- There’s help and provision awaiting “a little past the top of the hill!”
David found three things “a little past the top of the hill.”
I. A RIDE to carry him.
- Thank-God, when you reach the top of the hill, God has something to carry you on!
A. The asses are for the King’s family to ride on! Praise God, I’m adopted into the King’s family! My transportation is provided!
B. God will carry you when you cannot carry yourself!
