No Greater Joy

No Greater Joy

“I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth”—2 John 4

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”—3 John 4

Raising godly children in this ungodly world is not an easy task.  I believe it is most difficult job in the world.  Every Christian parent who has done their best to raise their children for God knows the joy and satisfaction of seeing their children grow up to live for the Lord (Prov. 23:15).

The same is true about seeing souls you have won to Christ still living for God after many years. 40 years ago God lead our family from Washington State to Barton, Vermont to start a local church there. We had the privilege of winning several Vermonters to Christ before returning to Washington five years later.  Last week I returned to this same local church in Barton.  How encouraging to see many of those same people I won to Christ still walking in truth after 40 years!  Words cannot express the joy I felt. There is the joy to bring forth fruit for Christ, and even greater joy to see your fruit remain (John 15:16). The ultimate joy will come when you see souls you won to Christ rising with you in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  As Paul wrote, “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy.”

What a joy to win a soul then see him continue following the Lord until Christ comes again!
