“LITTLE BY LITTLE”

“Little By Little”

By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land” (Exodus 23:30).

God told Israel they would not defeat their enemies in one day… or one week… or one month, nor all in one year!  But little by little, in due time, by the power of God, the children of Israel would defeat their enemies and possess the promise land.

The little by little principle states that some things take more time than other things depending on your capacity to handle them or receive them. Patience is needed!

     Rome wasn’t built in a day.  Noah didn’t build the ark in a day.  Re-creation was done “little by little” over six days.

     Goals are achieved by pursuing them “Little by Little.”  You lose weight “little by little” as you diet and exercise—one pound at a time.  Runners don’t immediately run a 26 mile marathon. They build up to it, “little by little.” We advance in our business “little by little” one step at a time.

“Little by little” we are given greater responsibility as we can handle it.  You become debt free “little by little” as you pay off one bill at a time and discipline your spending and purchases on credit.

You should not jump into marriage with someone you just met. Take some time to get to know that person, “little by little.”

When children leave home and get married, they want everything their parents have immediately. They fail to realize that their parents acquired what they have “little by little” over years of time.

     Spiritual growth is “little by little.”  You learn the Bible “little by little.” Isaiah 28:13—But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a littleYou read your Bible, attend church, S.S., take sermon notes, get involved in ministry.

David was anointed to be King when he was 17 years old, waited 13 more years before he actually sat on the throne.  Joseph’s dream (Genesis 37) took many years to be fulfilled. But “little by little” it came to pass.

Church growth takes time. Churches grow “little by little” (one member at a time.) Church buildings are built “little by little.”

     Don’t get discouraged with your “progress.” Just remain faithful in patiently moving forward little by little,” trusting God along the way. Little by little God will bring you to the place He has prepared for you.
