On The Streets of Detroit with Brother Joe Hicks

On The Streets of Detroit with Brother Joe Hicks

For 40 years Brother Joe Hicks and his wife Lisa have ministered for Christ on the streets of Detroit.  He has a great burden especially for youth who have been abandoned to live on the streets of Detroit—Drug addicts, prostitutes, the homeless, etc.

Saturday night I had the privilege of praying with Brother Joe at a Men’s Prayer meeting at Prayer Baptist.  I was moved by his passionate praying for those lost souls who have no place to go.

ON THE STREETS

Last night after church Barb and I went with Brother Joe to help in his street ministry in Detroit. We set up on a sidewalk on Michigan Avenue.  After unloading his trailer with food, and various clothing items, “street people” began to gather around.

Barb helped serve food (spaghetti, hot dogs, chips, etc.).

JOE SINGS AND PREACHES

Joe played his guitar and sang a few songs. [Video: Joe-Saved]  After singing Joe opened his Bible and preached a great sermon on the tactics of the devil. Very appropriate! I had a couple of opportunities to witness and talk to a few who were there.

SO BLESSED!

Barb and I were so blessed.  I encourage every Christian to get involved in some ministry that reaches out beyond the walls of the church to the lost who live on the streets. They need Jesus.

  1. Getting the Gospel to people that might not hear it blesses my heart. I have a special connection to those living on the streets. Thank you Pastor and Barb for taking time to minister to them. Preaching the gospel, feeding the poor, that is what it is all about. Praying for you.

    1. Although we did not see anyone get saved, people were blessed that someone cared for them. Pray for Bother Joe and his wife Lisa. We sure miss you!
